Green Advantage is pleased to welcome the new Director of Certification, Dr. Amy Townsend. Amy joined the Green Advantage team on October 15. As the Director of Certification services, Amy is responsible for creating, processing, and finalizing GA's authorized training standards; producing and maintaining protocols, policies and procedures; creating new exams, study guides, and curriculum guides; overseeing the exam process; and ensuring that certification services meet or exceed all third-party requirements.
Look for a complete interview of Amy in the next issue of Green Light. By way of a brief introduction, however, Amy has a rich experience of research, writing, teaching and consulting on green commercial building and workplace greening dating back to 1993. She has worked with numerous organizations to improve the efficiency and health of their workplace operations using current best practices in green building renovation, new construction, and facilities operations. She wrote the first book on greening the workplace (The Smart Office, 1997) and is in the process of developing next-generation green business best practices (Green Business, 2007; Business Ecology, 2009), which include greening facilities and sites. Her third book, Exploring Sustainable Biodiesel (2008), explores using biodiesel not only as a transportation fuel but also in building heating systems.
Please welcome Amy and contact her at atownsend@greenadvantage.org.
