It is a pleasure to present to you this quarter’s issue of “GreenLight.”
As you’ll see in many of these articles, practitioners across the country are using their Green Advantage Certification in a variety of creative ways. GA credentials are showing up on web sites and in marketing materials, on LEED Innovation Credit applications, and on successful resumes. Green Advantage practitioners are elevating the standards of organizations across the country and influencing corporate cultures to embrace energy efficiency and sustainable design.

Solar Thermal Panels are based on a very simple principle, capturing the sun’s energy to generate hot water. These systems should not be confused with photovoltaic systems which use the sun’s energy to generate electricity. Solar thermal systems are available for use in domestic, commercial and industrial new construction and remodeling projects.

“It is an incredible way to mainstream green construction knowledge for construction people. And I mean everyone, from foreman and superintendents, to project managers and company owners, to property managers, owners and construction representatives, In one day we went from knowing nothing, to understanding green building goals and how to achieve them,” said Bainey of the one-day Green Advantage training delivered by the Delaware Valley Green Building Council.

Created, developed and administered by members of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC), this one day seminar in preparation for the Green Advantage Certification Exam is based on the need for information that many local contractors, suppliers and subcontractors were and are seeking in order to make changes in the building industry toward more sustainable practices.

Joe Weidle - “I became interested in green building because it is a survival thing, If we don’t do something the outcomes are pretty bad and we as a society need to really take a look at what are non-sustainable practices – the ones we are living by and make changes,” said Weidle about how he got involved.
Rob Fleming - “The whole training is developed around the idea that if you are already a quality builder, the transition to sustainable is pretty straight forward, what we are really doing is demystifying sustainability and allowing [building professionals] to see how easy it is,” he concluded.

My Green Advantage Certification stuck out like a shining star in a heap of job applicants and was one of the things that caught the eye of my current employer. I had applied to many places and once the Green Advantage Certification was added to my resume it truly got me noticed. In fact, in a lot of respects, Green Advantage Certification did more for me than a four year degree.

"The best tip I could offer at this point would be to assemble a strong Green Advantage Certified Team. Finding those team members is challenging, but once you do, the process of delivering a green home solution to home buyers is extraordinarily rewarding. Teamwork equals green homebuilding success!"

If you ascribe to the phrase “knowledge is power”, then you need to visit one of the most comprehensive knowledge centers on the web concerning financial incentives available for energy efficiency and renewable energy applications.

Green Advantage Certification Training adheres to the integrated green design philosophy and the collaborative approach of sustainable building. Understanding the interdependencies of a building’s various systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and landscaping) is fundamental to creating a design and construction process that will produce a cost effective, environmentally responsible, durable and desirable building project.

On October 18, 2007, the PUC issued Decision 07-10-032 (PUC - Publicly Owned Utility Commission) affirming cost-effective energy efficiency measures as the state’s highest energy priority by laying the foundation for making energy efficiency an integral part of "business as usual" in California.

Green Advantage authorized training providers gladly work with you to help your company meet your commercial or residential or green building training and certification needs.
