Certification Success Story: Paul Deal
One of the most notable changes has been the addition of recycling dumpsters at every job site. Job site waste has been cut at least in half, while recycling of wood and metals such as steel and copper now generates revenue, instead of expenses.
In addition, Mr. Deal and another Green Advantage® Certified employee of Nouveau have implemented changes such as the switch to non-VOC paints and the reuse of materials. The company now recycles old drywall during building deconstruction to use on site projects as subbase stabilization that helps ensure proper drying of disturbed subbase.
Mr. Deal enthuses, “The [GA authorized]course makes you look at things differently.” He notes the need to include green building techniques in the design contract, as guidance for contractors to follow.
Mr. Deal is currently testing installation and use of solar lighting at the Texas Woman's University campus in Denton, Texas.
